Prince O. Emereonye on International Day Of Persons With Disabilities
Today’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities reminds us of the vision, mission and aspiration of the Waltson Wheelchair Foundation.
Grounded in the vision of providing dignity, hope, independence and opportunity through the gift of mobility! We have been told on countless occasions that providing brand new wheelchairs and other mobility aids are not just items — they are valuable tools for a better life.
The goal of this day that celebrates people living with disabilities around the globe is to highlight their abilities and how we can best support them in their journey. They have important contributions to make that impact us in countless positive ways.
Disability doesn’t diminish or limit, it challenges and invites us to believe in ourselves, to work even harder for the things we want, and to demonstrate to others that with perseverance, dedication and passion, that everything is possible. The generous and gracious people we have the privilege to work with every day are our inspiration to grow and innovate.
On this poignant day may we all be reminded to continue our quest by the wisdom of John Andrew Holmes, American writer and physician, who shared that "there is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up."
